Tim Burton's new fantasy Alice in Wonderland is scheduled for release from Disney Digital on March 5 of 2010. It will be offered in both 3D and 2D

3D enthusiasts and Alice in Wonderland fans are looking forward with anticipation to the new Tim Burton-directed project Wonderland, which is an adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classics Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. The film has an engaging cast of characters and uses filming techniques that will be new and spectacular, with a blend of live action and motion capture technology.

Alice in Wonderland: The Storyline

This rendition of Alice in Wonderland is different from previous films, as it takes place years later, almost as a sequel to the original story. Alice, now in her late teens, attends a party on a big estate, where she is about to be asked for her hand in marriage.

Once again, she follows the white rabbit down a hole and makes a revisit to Wonderland. At first Alice has no recollection of her visit ten years ago. Alice meets up with Tweedledee and Tweedledum, who take her to see the Mad Hatter. In this story, the kingdom is on the verge of revolution since the Red Queen has usurped the White Queen. The inhabitants of Wonderland have been waiting for Alice to help them. As the story progresses, memories in the form of flashbacks of her earlier visit to Wonderland as a child begin to come back to her. Unlike earlier versions, Tim Burton has stated his intentions to give this version of Alice a more story-like structure instead of a string of events.

Alice in Wonderland: The Cast

The cast of Wonderland includes some top name actors and actresses including Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham-Carter, who often appear in Burton’s productions.

The visual effects for the film will be provided by Sony Pictures Imageworks. The film will use many new techniques, combining live action actors with motion-capture creatures. The film is being shot with traditional cameras, then the footage will be converted into 3D.

Wonderland Video game

A video game based on Wonderland will be released by Disney Interactive Studios around the same date as the movie. It will be designed for the Wii, Nintendo DS and Windows PC. An iPhone version is also in the works.
